How Bryti handles your data
Last updated 24 September 2026.What Bryti collects
Bryti needs your email address and name to sign you in. Your household adds the rest. That is who is at the table, birth dates, dietary needs, house rules, and preferences. This also includes plans, recipes, shopping lists, and pantry records. Receipts, cookbook pages, fridge photos you upload, barcodes you scan, and calendar titles and times you choose to share are also included. Your conversations with Bryti are part of your data. Technical logs about errors and response times are kept for 30 days, and error reports for up to 90 days at Sentry in the EU. Sentry helps Bryti track errors and keep the service running. If you enter your email on /dinner-prices, Bryti sends you the dinner price once a month and nothing else. The address is deleted when you unsubscribe, or after seven days if you never confirm it.How long Bryti keeps it
Chat conversations12 months after the last message
Receipts and photos you uploaddeleted once Bryti has read them, after 30 days at the latest
Model responses that went wrong7 days, without your names, so Bryti can find out what happened. Then they are deleted.
Plans, recipes, shopping datauntil the household deletes them
The pantryFood stays in your pantry as long as you have it. Each item has records, such as purchases from receipts or items you marked as used up. These records are kept for 180 days before Bryti folds them into what remains. Photos are deleted after 30 days at most.
Push tokens for your phonesuntil you sign out on that phone, or the account is deleted
Receipt prices in the anonymised averagethe last 60 days, and only while “Share prices anonymously” is turned on. You can see the average only while you are sharing.
Learned unit weightsworked out again every night using data from households that agreed to share, without storing which households they are.
Problem reports you sendyour written report until it is closed, and any screenshot for up to 30 days after that. If the account is deleted, the report is deleted too.
Technical logs about errors and response times30 days
Error reports at the error-tracking provider Sentry (EU)up to 90 days
Deleted accounteverything is gone within 30 days
Recipes, plans, and shopping data stay until you choose to delete them. The list below gives the limits for everything else. Bryti never sells your data, and no one else can use it to train their models.Health data
Bryti only stores health data if you have given explicit permission. You can withdraw this permission at any time under Your data.Who else sees it
Bryti uses servers in the EU, at Railway in Amsterdam, Neon in Frankfurt, and Cloudflare. Chat replies, dinner suggestions, and imports are handled by Anthropic's Claude under a data processing agreement, and Anthropic does not use this data for training. If you enable payments, Stripe processes your card, and Bryti never sees your card details. Notifications are sent to your phone through Expo's push service to Apple and Google. These notifications are one sentence, like “someone ticked the list” or “the week is planned”. They include a link to the app, but never the list itself. If you share prices, your receipt prices can be included in an average with at least three households. Other households see only the average, which does not name any household or single store, just the chain. You can see the average only while you are sharing, and you can turn this off in Settings. If you enable learned weights, your input on the weight of items like cheese or bread can be included in an average. That average also requires at least three households that agree. Bryti stores only one number per food and unit, with no household information attached. If you take a photo of a receipt with location enabled, Bryti stores an approximate location within about 100 metres, but never your address. Errors and response times are sent to Sentry in its EU region in Frankfurt, including user id, household id, and trace id. Never your email address or what you wrote. Emails from Bryti, such as confirmations, invitations, and password resets, are sent through Resend in its EU region. Product searches go to Kassalapp in Norway as plain food words, with no household information. If you send a problem report, it may become an issue on GitHub in the United States, including your words but never the screenshot. Better Stack only checks if Bryti is responding and does not learn anything about any person. When you set a new password, it is checked against Have I Been Pwned using five characters of a one-way code. Hundreds of passwords share those five characters, so the service cannot identify who entered it. Bryti is the data controller. You can export or delete all your data under “Your data” in Settings at any time.Dinners in your calendar
An adult can make a private link that puts your planned dinners in the calendar you already use. The calendar sees what you're eating and when, but nothing about who is at the table. It needs no Bryti account, so anyone with the link can see the dinners. “Make a new link” stops the old one working, and “Turn the link off” stops them all. Whatever a calendar has already fetched stays there, but no new dinners reach it.Outside the EEA
Your data stays in the EU, on Railway in Amsterdam, Neon in Frankfurt, and Cloudflare R2 under EU jurisdiction. Sentry and Resend also use their EU regions. Anthropic, Railway, Cloudflare, Expo, Sentry, and Resend have parent companies in the US. Data transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU's standard contractual clauses. Bryti has a data processing agreement with each company.Who is responsible
Bryti (Norway) is the data controller. Questions about your data go to personvern@bryti.app. The legal basis is the agreement you enter when you create an account. In the GDPR that is article 6(1)(b). The anonymised price average rests on Bryti's legitimate interest in running and improving the service. That is article 6(1)(f). You can turn it off in Settings.Your rights
You can view, correct, download, and delete your data from Bryti at any time. The download and delete buttons are under “Your data” in Settings, both in the app and at bryti.app/settings/privacy. You do not need to ask anyone for permission. You can also delete your account there, either in the app or on the web. You have the right to object to how your data is processed or ask for restrictions. If you believe something is wrong, you can complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority. How the app is used
Bryti does not count which screens you open in the app. If this ever changes, there will first be a switch in Settings. It will stay off until you choose to turn it on, and this page will let you know before anything changes.Measurement on the web pages
Public pages are measured using Cloudflare Web Analytics. This includes the front page, help pages, pricing, and this page. The analytics count which pages are viewed and how quickly they load. No cookies are used, and no personal ID is stored. Your IP address is used only for counting, not for identifying you. Cloudflare is listed as a data processor above.Cookies
Bryti sets a single cookie when you sign in, which keeps you logged in. There are no cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics, so you will not see a cookie banner.By creating an account you accept the terms and that Bryti stores what your household puts in.
