Keep things in order

The settings

Here’s what you’ll find in the settings, and which options affect everyone in your household or just this device.
The Settings page lists different sections you can open. Each row shows your current choices, such as “own recipes first” or “shares prices anonymously.” You’ll find the actual switches when you open each section.

Settings sections

  1. The household: This section includes Household, Rules, Stores & memberships, and Calendars. Here you set who eats with you, your dinner preferences, where you shop, and what’s already on this week.
  2. Bryti: This section controls how Bryti plans and suggests things, like how many new dishes per week, leftover nights, Prefer our own recipes, and What you have at home. It also sets what Bryti can do automatically.
  3. What you have at home has three levels. With As usual, your preferences and favourites come first. If two dishes are tied, the pantry decides.
  4. With Happy to use what we have, dishes that use what you already have are chosen before ones you like a bit more, but your favourites still come first. With Use up what we have first, the pantry is the top priority, so you buy less but have less variety.
  5. No matter which level you pick, Bryti always uses food that’s close to its expiry date first.
  6. Lean towards what you have cooked is on from the start. Dinners you have cooked before come round more often, and a dish you have made three times beats one that is a little healthier. Turn it off and the card still says how many times you have made it, but the plan does not count it. A dinner that did not go down well comes less often either way.
  7. If you turn off Use the starter library, Bryti will only use your own recipes and new dishes for planning. The starter library won’t appear in your cookbook.
  8. Shopping and measures and Language and appearance are explained later in this guide.
  9. Notifications is for your phone. You’ll also find Account, Your data, AI usage, and, on the web, your subscription settings.
  10. About: How Bryti works brings up the introduction again. Help opens this help centre, and Report a problem lets you report a problem. The last line shows your current build version.
Worth knowingEach page shows who the setting affects. Applies to the whole household means the change is for everyone, while This phone only means it’s just for this phone or browser. If you belong to more than one household, Which household lets you switch between them.

Language and look

Language changes the language for your whole household, including the app, Bryti’s replies, and dinner ideas. You can also ask Bryti to switch languages for you.Appearance lets you pick Follow the system, Light, or Dark. This choice is saved only on this device. Public pages have the same toggle before you sign in.

Units and sharing

Units lets you show amounts as Metric (dl, g) or US cups and ounces. Dry goods lets you show flour, sugar, and rice By volume (dl) or By weight (g). These settings only change how recipes and lists look, so US recipes still work correctly. One cup equals 2.4 dl.If Share prices anonymously is on, prices from your receipts are added to an anonymous average that you can also view. If it’s off, your prices are not included, and you only see your own prices. If a price is missing, the list will offer Turn on sharing. Share what your groceries weigh works the same way for sharing the weight of items like bread or cheese.
NoteOnly adults can change units, language, and sharing settings, but Juniors can see the current choices. The country setting under Location is found on the Stores page.
